Personal note: Something happened with the recording during the broadcast, the broadcast just stopped and restarted by itself, and the first 45 minutes of recording just disappeared.
Kyle is the son of an old friend of mine, and when he got transferred to Camp Pendleton, which is near Encinitas where I live, his Dad and his mom each wrote to me asking if I would look him up or give him a call just so he felt a little closer to home. I hadn't seen Kyle in 12 to 15 years, and so it was pretty fun to see him as a grown man with all kinds of responsibilities and a tour of duty still ahead of him.
Somewhere along the line in a couple of visits with Kyle, I told him it would be nice to have him come over and be on camera with me and just talk to the viewing audience while I painted his portrait.
This is the result. The stories were fascinating, and the experience was great.
The completed painting was mailed to him at his home in Washington State as a wedding gift and a thank you for his service to the US and the cause of Freedom. At the time of this video, he had still not seen his girlfriend in quite a while, and was not yet engaged.
